Who are we
The Nautica Association is a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) of volunteers dedicated to the integration of people with disabilities in diving
Diving is an activity that unlocks. Not only new areas of the world, but also something new in everyone who has taken the first dive. In line with our motto ‘Barriers are only on the surface’, we want to help people with disabilities to experience this beautiful activity.
Diving offers an opportunity to use the specificity of the water environment to help discover the hitherto unknown movement possibilities of one's own body, to believe in one's own strengths and to find a new way to conquer limitations. Water not only supports and uplifts, but at the proper temperature reduces muscle tension, and thus promotes more efficient movement than on land.
Hence, our association focuses on training the necessary diving skills following a specialised programme developed by the HSA Handicapped Scuba Association - an American federation training divers with disabilities. HSA certificates are internationally recognised and respected in diving centres in Poland and abroad.
We offer year-round diving courses, and our basic principle is to adapt the programme and the pace of learning to the individual needs resulting from the type of disability. We welcome all adults with mobility impairments (paraplegia, tetraplegia, limb amputations), visual impairments, hearing impairments, cerebral palsy and those suffering from dystrophy, multiple sclerosis etc. Please contact us..
The courses begin with sessions in the swimming pool and end with dives in open waters, which we organize close to ‘home’, i.e. in Zakrzówek in Krakow, or at summer camps in Croatia, Egypt and all destinations where we have not been as yet. As a result, participants obtain the diving degree (OWD, AOWD) which allows them to dive in all waters worldwide.
In addition, we organise tourist dives for already certified HSA-divers as well as condition classes where we improve our skills. We take great care to ensure the quality of our courses and the comfort of our dives. We train volunteers in the specifics of HSA diving and support them in gaining further diving qualifications. The best way to gain experience is through year-round swimming pool sessions and dive camps.
